Remember the Sabbath Day, to Keep It Holy
Exodus 20:8 says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

This year our family is trying to live that out more intentionally. We’re setting aside the seventh day for rest and worship, and we’re learning what that looks like for us.
The seventh day is Saturday. It’s the day God rested when He was done with creation. Genesis 2:2 says, “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”
So on that day we slow down. We put the work down. We worship, we rest, and we spend time together. It ain’t about following a rule just to say we did it. It’s about obeying God and trusting that He knows what we need.
We’re also stepping back from holidays we’ve noticed have pagan roots. By that I mean customs that started in the worship of other gods, not in anything God told His people to do. The more we’ve looked into where some of these things came from, the less we want any part of them in our home.
I’m not saying this to judge anybody else’s choices. Every family has to answer to God for their own home. I’m just sharing where God has led ours, and if you’ve got questions, I’m happy to answer them.
